Who we are

The East of England Regional Assembly is a partnership body bringing together elected councillors from the regions 54 councils and representatives from the private, voluntary and community sectors.

We are based at Flempton House, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Flempton House is known to many as the local government training centre for the East of England region and is still used for this purpose in addition to providing office space for Assembly staff.

EERA currently has around 55 staff engaged in planning, scrutiny, policy, training, consultancy and support to regional employers.

The Chief Executive, Brian Stewart, is responsible for the overall running of the East of England Regional Assembly and is supported by a senior management team consisting of:

  • Mike Mosley, Deputy Chief Executive 
  • Nick Burfield, Head of Scrutiny and Partnerships 
  • Adrian Cannard, Head of Planning and Housing 
  • Colin Robertshaw, Head of Policy and Secretariat
